🍂 Hello, September! Your Guide to Fall Fun in Northern Kentucky & Greater Cincinnati 🍂

September around Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati is basically Mother Nature saying, “Okay, you’ve had enough humidity. Here’s a pumpkin.” 

The kids are back in school, football is back, pumpkin spice has taken over every menu in sight, and our weekends are about to be packed with festivals, farms, football, food and fall fun.

As a local Realtor, one of my favorite things about selling homes in this area is that we’re not just selling houses—we’re selling communities and lifestyles. From Florence and Union to Covington, Newport, Cincinnati, Loveland and beyond, there is SO much to do this September.

So grab your calendar. Here are a few events worth adding!

 First Stop: Pumpkin Patches!

Is it even fall if you don’t spend $47 on pumpkins, get lost in a corn maze and take 83 pictures trying to get ONE where everyone is looking at the camera? 

Northern Kentucky has some great options.

Sugar Ridge Family Farm in Walton offers classic fall fun including wagon rides, pumpkins, mazes, play areas and seasonal activities.

Country Pumpkins in Dry Ridge kicks off its 2026 Fall Festival on September 12, with pumpkins, family activities, a petting zoo and hayrides among the attractions.

McGlasson Farms in Hebron is another fun fall stop for pumpkins, apples and beautiful Ohio River Valley scenery.

Neltner’s Farm & Event Venue in Melbourne offers another classic farm experience with pumpkins, corn mazes, wagon rides, animals and seasonal activities.

On the Ohio side, there are plenty more.

Blooms & Berries Farm Market and Garden Center in Loveland begins its Fall on the Farm season September 19. Expect a corn maze, hayrides, farm animals, play areas and plenty of pumpkin-season fun.

Shaw Farms in Milford is another longtime fall destination with pumpkins, a corn maze, hayrides and family activities.

My advice? Wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and accept now that you’re coming home with more pumpkins than you planned. 

 Riverfest & WEBN Fireworks — September 6

One of Cincinnati’s biggest end-of-summer traditions returns on Sunday, September 6.

Riverfest begins at noon at Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove, followed by the WEBN Fireworks at 9:05 p.m. Expect food, music, activities and a whole lot of people staring at the sky.

And yes, every Cincinnati parent will simultaneously say:

“We’re leaving before everyone else so we don’t get stuck in traffic.”

Spoiler alert: We’re ALL thinking that. 

 Oktoberfest Season Starts EARLY Around Here

Greater Cincinnati takes Oktoberfest very seriously. Apparently, one weekend of pretzels simply isn’t enough.

Covington Oktoberfest takes over MainStrasse Village and Goebel Park September 11–13, featuring German-inspired food, craft beer, live music, vendors and family activities. Admission is free.

Across the river, Newport Oktoberfest also runs September 11–13 at Festival Park at the Levee with food, entertainment, drinks, games and a carnival. Admission is free.

Then comes the BIG one.

 Oktoberfest Zinzinnati — September 17–20

Cincinnati’s celebration marks its 50th anniversary in 2026 at Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove.

We’re talking German food, live entertainment, family activities, stein hoisting and, naturally, the legendary Running of the Wieners. 

Admission is free.

If you’ve never watched dachshunds race while thousands of adults eat pretzels, I’m not sure you’ve fully experienced Cincinnati yet.

 WHO DEY! Football Is Back

Fall in Cincinnati without Bengals football?

Absolutely not. 

The Cincinnati Bengals’ 2026 home opener is September 13 against Tampa Bay at Paycor Stadium.

Even if you’re not going to the game, Bengals season means watch parties, patios, restaurants and plenty of orange and black throughout the region.

And don’t forget Friday Night Lights! September is a great month to support our local high schools throughout Florence, Union, Burlington, Independence, Fort Thomas, Covington and surrounding communities.

 Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week — September 21–27

Foodies, this one’s for us. 

Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week runs September 21–27 with nearly 60 participating restaurants offering three-course meals at set price points of $26, $36 and $46. The event benefits Cincinnati Children’s.

Translation:

“We should probably cook tonight.”

Also us:

“But it’s Restaurant Week.” 

 Luxe Living Home Tour — September 18–27

Okay, NOW we’re speaking my language. 

The Luxe Living Home Tour takes place in Northern Kentucky over the weekends of September 18–20 and September 25–27, showcasing eight luxury homes.

If you love real estate, decorating, architecture or simply walking through gorgeous homes and mentally redesigning your own kitchen afterward, put this one on the list.

 Ohio Renaissance Festival

Want to temporarily trade Cincinnati traffic for knights, queens and turkey legs?

The Ohio Renaissance Festival opens September 5 at Renaissance Park and continues weekends and Labor Day through November 1.

It’s one of those outings where wearing a costume is completely optional… yet somehow you’ll leave wishing you had worn one. 

 September Is One Of The BEST Months To Explore Where We Live

One weekend you can pick pumpkins in Walton or Dry Ridge.

The next you’re eating your way through Cincinnati.

Then you’re watching football, walking through luxury homes, exploring Covington or Newport, or getting completely lost in a corn maze in Loveland.

That’s why I love calling this area home.
